Bee Card

click on picture to make it larger
Look at this awesome set that Marti has in the store. These cute little bee stamps match perfectly the bee skittles. What fun and easy card. I stamped a Studio G bee in Studio G yellow. I used Labels 2 for the large DP and the 2 DP ovals were cut using Lg Ovals. The green base is from my scrap pile and all the DP is K&Co Amy Butler. She has lady bugs and butterflies stamp sets that match the printed skittles. Oh, make sure to check back next Friday, Aug 7. This is the release day of the new stamps. I can't wait to show you what is coming. Hmm, maybe hints starting next week. Let me know if you want hints.

Mask Card & Blog Candy Winner

Sassy Studio Designs has the mask as a free digi. The challenge was to use the mask on a project. The deadline for the challenge is Friday at midnight (PST). My card base is Silver Lustre. This paper is hard to photograph because it has such a wonderful shine too it. I love how even when you color on it the lines still show through. Even though the paper is glossy, it stamps wonderfully. I have been told it works fantastic with Copics. The saying is from Sweet Dreams by Sweet n Sassy Stamps. The DP behind the saying is 100% Sweet by DCVW. The Carriage is stamped in Brilliance Pink and colored with Twinkling H2O's. I added Dew Drops to the wheels.
Here you can see the mask up close. If you click on the pictures, they will be bigger. I printed the mask on Sparkle Card Stock and colored with Twinkling H2O's. Where the eyes are, I put Crystal Effects to give it more shine. The feathers are covered with a mixture of Flower Soft and glitter. I put the pink flower soft in a container with some glitter. Put the lid on and shake it to mix around the glitter.

Christina you are the winner. Congrats! Email me your address at anitamocha@sbcglobal.net

Poem

This story was in the weekly newsletter from PC Crafter. It fits my life at the moment. I am trying to be a coffee bean. What are you?

God Bless,

Anita

A carrot, an egg, and a cup of coffee... You will never look at a cup of coffee the same way again.

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me what you see."

"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied.

Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard boiled egg.

Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked, "What does it mean, mother?"

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened. The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

"Which are you?" she asked her daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?"

Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest do you elevate yourself to another level? How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

This card was an accident. I started this card for another project but it just wasn't working. When I sat down to work on Flourishes By the Sea Challenge, this card just fit. By accident, this card fits Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge to pop it up.
I used SU DP (don't know name). The other papers used are Neenah Classic Crest, Plasma Blue Iridescent, and Virtual Ivory Iridescent from Paper Temptress. I used Thinking You stamp set from Flourishes. I stamped with Antique Linen Distress Ink.

Chcicken Cards

There is a challenge in SNR by Digi Shack. If you combine the sketch and this free image, you get a new free digi from Digi Shack. I just love this image. I just had to make two. I used paper scraps. The flowers were cut using the Big Shot. The centers of the flowers are Skittles from Pez A Doodle. If you click on the picture, you can see that the Skittle in the large flower is a lady but. The ribbon was one I won from Terri. The brown card is ribbon from Michaels. The buttons are Wal-mart with Pez A Blings in the center. The images are printed on Sparkle Blanc text weight from Paper Temptress. I just love how the sparkle on this paper shows through on the images.
These cards fit Pile it On's challenge to use 3 different embellishments and a least one other challenge. The brown card fits Charisma Cardz's challenge to use buttons on a project.

Studio G Challenge

There is a new Studio G challenge on PCP. The sketch is above my 8 x 8 page. I used Studio G ink and stamps for this page. If you haven't tried Studio G ink, they work fantastic. I wasn't sure because I have tried cheap inks before and was unhappy. The Studio G inks work great on all surfaces. I stamped the sayings on SU ribbon. I highlighted on saying with a frame I got from Oriental Trading. If you have Studio G stamps and inks, pull them out and come play along.
Pez A Doodle has Studio G stamps, inks and glitter glue on pre-order for Halloween, Christmas and general stamps. They are a fantastic price.
